Found Sculptures in Wild

“Found Sculptures in the Wild” is a photo series that explores objects at new angles to create new meanings. Through my photography, I show random items in ways that make them look important. These objects include old Halloween decorations, chairs, signs, etc., all of which are not often photographed. The series started when I saw random items scattered throughout my neighbor's yard. At first glance, the yard looked like just any other dirty college student yard; however, I created a whole different narrative by taking photos of specific parts. Often, human beings overlook the small things in life; for example, people don’t notice the beauty of a broken table. Taking a photo with different angles and perspectives of objects that are not stereotypically pretty shows how they can be beautiful. It is essential to stop and appreciate the little things in life to make life more interesting and appealing. The photos bring a sense of light-hearted humor to them as well through photographing signs and old Halloween decorations.

I have always enjoyed using my iPhone to take photos of random items and try to make them aesthetically pleasing. I am passionate about taking unconventional photographs because they show perspectives the normal eye may miss. This everyday outlook on how objects can be beautiful and aesthetically pleasing through photography is a main contributor to the series “Found Sculptures in the Wild.”
